Tokyo Metropolian Police Fight Fraud With Vocaloid Song

posted on by Chris Nishijima
Japanese citizens invited to name the song by giving suggestions over Twitter.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Police force has decided to put out an official promotional song for their campaign against fraud. In order to bring the song to the receptive internet community, they have decided to utilize Vocaloid software, to have none other than popular Vocaloid idol Hatsune Miku sing the song.

For the time being, this anti-fraud campaign song has no name. In order to decide the title for official release, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police have opened up for suggestions via their official Twitter page. Anyone can give propose a name through a tweet simply by giving their post the hashtag #犯抑新曲 (Crime Control Song). Suggestions will be taken until April 16.

This isn't the first time that they have utilized voice synthesizer software for promotional purposes. Last year, they released a synthesized version of the theme song for their official mascot Pipo-kun. It was speculated as to whether or not they had utilized official Vocaloid software at the time, as the singer's voice bore a resemblance to that of Hatsune Miku. Though that instance was never officially confirmed, it seems likely after the release of this most recent video.
