2015 Dengeki Gunpla King Crowned

The winners of the 2015 Dengeki Gunpla King contest, which seeks the highest examples of Mobile Suit Gundam figure modelling, were crowned.



The winner of the grand prize (Dengeki Gunpla King), which carries a purse of 200,000 yen ($1,617), is entitled "Jeanne d'Arc" and was submitted by Papa Fumitoshi. It also won in the Open category, which carries a purse of 50,000 yen (about $400).

Second place in the Open category went to Butchi Harapeko's MS-06 F-2.

The third-place winner was Maverick's Amuro's Last Suit, which also won the readers' poll.

COO took home first place in the Middle School category for this model entitled "Thank you, Exia."

This model, Mei Hatake's "Homecoming," won in the Elementary School category. It also won the ASCII Media Works prize.

We Are the Balbud Family! won the Team category for this model of a colony drop.

The Dengeki Gunpla King contest is sponsored by Dengeki Hobby Web magazine and has been held annually since 1999. It has steadily gained in popularity, especially among professional modelers. This year's contest garnered 1,161 entries, which were received between March 25 and May 11. The contest winners were displayed on July 26 at Wonder Festival 2015 in Chiba; they will go on display again on August 22 and 23 at the Chara Hobby 2015 C3 × HOBBY, also in Chiba.

Andy Wong of Malaysia won the 2014 Gunpla Builders' World Cup.
