Voice Actress Mika Kanda Also Accepted Into MENSA

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Non Non Biyori voice actress Kotori Koiwai has inspired many of her colleagues to test their IQs after she was accepted into MENSA, non-profit society for individuals with a high-IQ. Koiwai posted a picture of herself with her MENSA ID card on her blog on Wednesday, galvanizing other voice actors to try out.

Mika Kanda, the voice of Sonoko Tanabe in My Roommate is a Cat, wrote on Wednesday that she is also a member of Japan's MENSA, but hasn't attended a meeting.

MENSA is open to people who score at the 98th percentile (top 2%) or higher on a standardized, supervised IQ or other approved intelligence test. The hashtag "#MENSA会員テスト" (MENSA Membership Test) began trending on Twitter since Koiwai posted her results earlier this week. Other voice actors took an online test via the quiz website Vonvon that is supposed to evaluate whether an individual could be a MENSA member.

Yūichi Nakamura (Fairy Tail, Mr. Osomatsu), took the Vonvon test and scored high enough to be a "MENSA member" level. Megumi Ogata (Sailor Moon, Neon Genesis Evangelion) also made the grade while Shinnosuke Tachibana (Love and Lies, Overlord) was awarded "Einstein level."

The Vonvon test is supposed to be challenging but is not a substitute for the actual test completed by Kanda and Koiwai.

MENSA has groups all over the world. The Japan group has approximately 1,500 members.
