Iron Chef New York Battle

Matt, over at Animeverse.com reminded us that last nights' broadcast of "Iron Chef: New York Battle" on Food Network included background music done by Yoko Kanno. This broadcast featured "Flying Dragon" from Escaflowne, and "My Little Pony" from Brainpowerd.
Yoko Kanno is best known for her incredible orchestral and instrumental works for anime series. The Lodoss Wars TV series opening theme and the background music of Escaflowne are examples of her skills as an artist. She also visited the US and performed a set of piano pieces during Otakon 1999 and Anime Expo 1999.
This isn't the first time Iron Chef (arguably the most popular show on Food Network) has used Yoko Kanno's pieces. Roughly one-third to one-quarter of the shows incorperate Yoko Kanno pieces into the battle. For more information about Iron Chef, visit the Food Network Iron Chef website.
