GamePro.com has posted a 6 part series of articles called "Essential Anime" by Sean Molloy (Associate Entertainment Editor of GamePro.com)
"Essential Anime" looks at the entire world of Anime through 5 different titles which "best repesented everything anime had to offer". "It's an extremely daunting task - picking five series to represent the entirety of an enormous entertainment spectrum is actually pretty ludicrous, especially considering there's a whole wide world of shows and movies ..."
The author does not suggest that these are the five best Anime of all time, but merely that they "best represent the different faces of Japanese animation".
