Nobuyuki Onishi announced as a new Guest of Honor, and an exclusive Cel Exhibit featuring Vampire Hunter D...
In a post to rec.arts.anime.misc, Mike Tatsugawa introduced Nobuyuki Onishi as the latest Guest of Honor for Anime Expo:
Mr. Onishi is probably best known to anime fans for the illustrations used in the credits of Wings of Honneamise (aka, Royal Space Force), which was being screened in the theaters throughout the U.S.
A collection of his lithographs can be found in a book titled, Memories, which was published in 1992 by Yasuyoshi Yamaguchi.
Mr. Onishi has kindly provided Anime Expo with a small selection of his work, that is on display in the "Special Exhibits section."
In a separate post, Mike Tatsugawa announced a special Vampire Hunter D Cel Exhibit:
Anime Link and Film Link will be presenting an exclusive cel exhibition of actual production cels from the upcoming new Vampire Hunter D: Movie from
Madhouse Studios! There will be an assortment of key scenes with the main characters - each selection wonderfully complete with their matching background. This extraordinary exhibition was shown recently in Tokyo and will make its debut in the U.S. at Anime Expo. The dramatic new film will be released theatrically this fall by Urban Vision Entertainment, a leader in the anime industry. Urban Vision is best known for its critically acclaimed releases to the home video market, such as Wicked City, Twilight of the Dark Master, Goku: Midnight Eye, and Legend of the Crystals: Based on Final Fantasy. The amazing new Vampire Hunter D film will be Urban Vision's first major theatrical release in the US.
