Hosoda Leaves Ghibli

posted on by Christopher Macdonald
Howl's Moving Castle production suspended?

In a recent diary entry on the 13th Kakudoh, general director of Digimon Adventure series, wrote, " When we were watching the soccer game on TV at the recording studio, Hosoda, who recently came back at Toei, appeared. He said he came to join the meeting on Oja-Majo Doremi."

Mamoru Hosoda, who directed Digimon: The Movie for Toei before joining Ghibli, was supposed to be the director of Ghibli's upcoming feature film "Hauru no Ugoku Shiro (Howl's Moving Castle)." While Ghibli has made no official announcement, it seems likely that, if Hosoda has in fact left Ghibli, production on Howl's Moving Castle would be delayed.

Howl's Moving Castle, based on the book by Diana Wynne Jones, was expected to be released in the spring of 2003.
