Anime Production Update

posted on by Jonathan Mays
Early information on Mukoh Hadan and three other "in-the-works" anime series, as well as Production I.G involvement in Tarantino's upcoming film.

The Tokyo International Anime Fair 2003 witnessed the announcement of several new anime series in Japan. Among those currently in production is Mukoh Hadan, a new series from Bones (RahXephon, Cowboy Bebop). Set in Feudal Japan (Warring States period of the Muromachi era) like Inu-Yasha, the "samurai spirits" anime involves the unlikely partnership of a nameless man and and boy he was ordered to kill. As the two embark on a journey to uncover mysteries and lost memories, they will face numerous assassins, each determined to make the search for self-identity a deadly expedition.

A new giant robot anime, tentatively titled Godanner, is also entering production stages. Currently, the only information about the series exists on a small official website.

Other Tokyo International Anime Fair announcements included Mahou Shoujo Tai, which will be produced by Studio 4°C (Spriggan, Animatrix), and Manseido's Gohouden: Kyousou Ibun. Additionally, Production I.G announced that they have produced about ten minutes worth of animation to be used for several sequences in Quentin Tarantino's upcoming film, "Kill Bill."

More details will follow as further information becomes available.
