Production of Space Cruiser Yamato Rebirth Chapter to start

With the Space Cruiser Yamato copyright dispute settled, former producer Yoshinori Nishizaki will start work on the sequel, with Matsumoto planning a series of his own.
In March 2002, a lower court decision of the Tokyo district court ruled in favor of Yoshinori Nishizaki's appeal that he was the author involved in the entire production of the anime, whereas Leiji Matsumoto was only involved in partial production. After this, appeals were filed by both sides, continuing the trial. Now, both sides have dropped their appeals and the issue closed with a settlement.
Nishizaki will now start on the production of Space Cruiser Yamato Rebirth Chapter, the sequel to the series. Matsumoto is also planning on creating his own series, with more information forthcoming in the future.
