Young You Magazine Discontinued

posted on by Christopher Macdonald
Shueisha Ends Run of Magazine Aimed at Adult Women

Shueisha has announced that publication of the magazine "Young You," which serialised manga such as Honey and Clover, will be discontinued. Some manga serialised in the magazine will be shifted to either Chorus magazine or You Magazine, both also published by Shueisha. Other manga series are to be cancelled.

An English Translation of the announcement is as follows:

It has been almost 20 years since “YOUNG YOU” was first published in 1986. As a manga magazine designed for adult women, YOUNG YOU has published close to 350 volumes, including supplemental issues.

Many of the titles that have appeared in YOUNG YOU have been able to earnestly portray fashionable and beautiful stories of women growing up. The magazine has produced many hit series, many of which were made into TV dramas and Anime.

We announce that the publication YOUNG YOU, following the release of the current volume, will be suspended.

Although many of you feel very sad about this decision, it was decided that the mission and role of the magazine has been completed for now.

However, the spirit of YOUNG YOU will be maintained in future volumes of Chorus (on sale on the 28th of each month) and YOU (on sale on the 1st and 15th of each month). We hope that the stories that continue in Chorus and YOU are just as interesting, just as compelling, and inspire readers to think, “I'm glad I read this. I'll continue to do my best!” Based on the decision of the manga artists and their managers, some stories will continue to be serialized and the establishment of some stories will be cancelled. However, nothing could make us happier than knowing that we will continue to have your support.

20 years is certainly not a short amount of time. During that time, more than anything else, we have been able to continue sales of the magazine due to the patronage of our many readers. From the bottom of our hearts, we are truly thankful.

Thank you for your devoted support.

Also, we hope to receive your continued support.
