G4TechTV Canada Able to Broadcast Anime

Canadian regulatory body amends station's license, allowing it to include dramatic programming.
An ammendment to G4TechTV Canada's broadcasting license was passed this morning allowing G4TechTV Canada to include 15% dramatic programming in their lineup.
When requesting the amendment, G4TechTV argued that it would enable it to respond to the interests and demands of its viewers, without bringing it into direct competition with other licensed Canadian specialty services. G4TechTV has already expanded its content to cover various areas of "digital technology lifestyle" programing. G4TechTV argued that its existing license denied it the right to broadcast popular programming such as anime, which it called "a genre of computer-generated animation whose storylines and plots often discuss futuristic technological themes."
The CRTC notes that several unnamed third parties intervened in support of this application. "Seven interveners specifically cited the addition of anime programming to G4TechTV as desirable."
The CRTC found that it must allow G4TechTV to meet it's target audience's expectations, and as such approved the amendment, noting the "rapid changes to the computing and technology industry, and the changing demographics of the population typically interested in such programming," and stated, "There is room for a limited amount of drama programming, especially drama programming such as anime, on G4TechTV."
Zannen.ca webmaster Jesse Betteridge, who has been following G4TechTV's numerous attempts to expand it's programming to include anime, notes, "This is also the only CRTC document I've ever read that specifically uses the term 'anime'"
