Free screening of Episode 1 on Japanese TV also announced; Production I.G remake of 70s-era anime to feature updated robot designs rendered in CG

Production I.G and WOWOW TV have announced the broadcast dates for the Reideen TV anime series. The show will premiere on Japanese cable network WOWOW, Saturday March 3rd at 7pm, and continue airing every Saturday at 7PM. Although WOWOW is usually only available to cable and satellite subscribers who pay for the channel, the network will also have a "free broadcast" of the first episode of the show on Sunday, February 4th at 8PM during its annual "free" day, when the channel can be viewed by all cable and satellite subscribers.

Reideen is a remake of the anime series Yuusha Reideen, a mecha robot anime series from the 1970s, featuring a new plot for the 2007 version. The series aims to capture the feeling of the old series and add 3DCG animation that brings more detail to the mecha designs featured in the anime.

Trailers for the series are available from the WOWOW website for the show.
