Yoko Ishida Talks Concerts, CD Plans

Geneon recording artist Yoko Ishida spoke briefly with ANN's Jonathan Mays in anticipation of her upcoming US performances: August 11 at the Akiba Fest J-Pop Summer Concert Bash in Springfield, VA, and September 1-3 at Anime Vegas.

Reflecting on her concert at "Anime Friends" in Brazil earlier this year: "I found that everyone, regardless of language and cultural differences, could have a good time together. 8,000 people showed up for my concert on the last day of the event. They even said 'Arigato' in Japanese. I still feel so close to fans in Brazil even though I'm now apart from them."

Two weeks ago, Ishida was in Ueno, Tokyo for Anison (Anime Song) Carnival 2007. "The weather was not perfect because a typhoon was on the way," she says, "but many people showed up for the carnival. Many singers were there, including Hero-kei, who sang a song from the sentai series Dai-Ranger. Not many people know that I sang one of the songs from Dai-Ranger, too! I enjoyed the carnival very much since the audience and performers inspired each other."

Ishida's world tour will be followed up with the release of her new CD, "Single Collection," on September 21 in Japan. "This CD is a sort of 'best of' album," she says, "and includes songs that I sang for different anime. This CD means a lot to me. This is my 15-year anniversary, and I am very happy to have a 'best' collection this year."
