Viz Pictures Licenses 1st Film from Funky Forest Trio

Viz Pictures, the live-action film affiliate of Viz Media, has licensed Nice no Mori: The First Contact (Funky Forest: The First Contact), the debut live-action film from the eclectic three-director Nice no Mori group. Katsuhito Ishii (director of The Taste of Tea and character designer of Kill Bill Vol. 1's anime sequence) is joined by Shunichiro Miki (director of T.M. Revolution's "Madan" and L'Arc-en-Ciel's "Chronicle" music videos) and Aniki (Hajime Ishimine, the music director on The Taste of Tea and the director of Custom Made) in interweaving 21 bizarrely dream-like episodes in this 2005 anthology.
The film features several cameos, include one by director Hideaki Anno (Evangelion, Gunbuster). Nice no Mori hosts trailers of its various works, including The First Contact, in the Works section of its website.

This second set certainly lacks the same amount of punch as the first did, however that does not stop it being quite an enjoyable collection that is perfect for those who somehow overlooked these titles their first time around or are new to the anime scene.
