Japan's Teletama Takes Nymphet, Higurashi off Schedule

posted on 2007-10-09 04:44 AEST
Teletama, one of four Japanese stations that had planned to premiere the controversial Kodomo no Jikan (Nymphet) anime this week, removed the program from its schedule. Teletama and another station, Tokai TV, had already preempted the Higurashi no Naku Kore ni Kai mystery anime indefinitely. The Higurashi producers unsuccessfully tried to convince Teletama that its program renounces violence in the wake of Japan's recent juvenile axe assault cases, and the Kodomo staffers said that Teletama also cited those cases before that anime's apparent removal. (The staffers only learned of Teletama's apparent decision from the program's removal from the station's website.) Source: Canned Dogs
