Production I.G slated to produce adaptation of Hiro Arikawa novel

On Saturday, Japanese publishing group MediaWorks officially announced that Hiro Arikawa's popular novel Toshokan Sensō (Library War) will become a TV anime series. News of the project was first revealed in advance advertising from the publisher. The novel has already inspired two manga adaptations. The first, Toshokan Sensō: Love and War, is currently serialized in the monthly shōjo manga magazine LaLa and is drawn by Kiiro Yumi. Yayoi Furudori will draw the second adaptation, Toshokan Sensō: Spitfire!, which is scheduled to debut this winter in another monthly manga publication, Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh.

Taking place in the year 2019, Library War focuses on the battles fought by "Library Armies" to preserve the freedom of having libraries when a new law threatens to clamp down on freedom of expression.

Production I.G will produce the series, which is scheduled to debut on television screens in January 2008. MediaWorks has indicated that a specific air time for the anime will be announced on November 25 at the Dengeki 15 Year Anniversary Festival promotional event.
