Aquarian Age Live-Action Film's US Prospects Hinted

posted on by Egan Loo
Juvenile Orion game/manga remake to open in Japan this spring

Shizuki Yamashita, the director of operations at Broccoli International USA, reports on her company's blog on the announced live-action movie adaptation of the Aquarian Age game and manga franchise. The announcement was made in the December 2007 issue of Broccoli's From Gamers! promotional magazine in Japan. The movie will be released in a limited theatrical engagement in 2008 during the Japanese spring break, and Yamashita indicates that an American release "depends on your passion."

Sakurako Gokurakuin's Aquarian Age - Juvenile Orion supernatural manga, which Broccoli Books is publishing in English, is based on the popular Aquarian Age collectible card game and its female-oriented spinoff, Juvenile Orion. The story centers on 16-year-old Mana as she returns to her birthplace and her childhood friend, Kaname. Mana, Kaname, and Kaname's best friend Naoya find themselves caught in a millennia-old war called Aquarian Age. Dōri Sakurada (The Prince of Tennis musical's Ryōma) will play Kaname, and Rakuto Tochihara (Boogiepop Phantom's Poom Poom, Kamen Rider Hibiki's Asumu) will play Naoya.
