Monkey Punch, Moyoco Anno, Hinako Takanaga Interviewed (Updated)

posted on 2007-11-28 06:59 AEDT

The Daily Yomiuri newspaper posted the English translation of a November 9 interview with manga creator Monkey Punch (Lupin III). The interview marked the recent Monkey Punch Original Art Exhibition: Pen to Digital display at the Saitama Municipal Manga Hall in Japan. The legendary icon described his gradual transition from a pen-and-paper artist to a more supervisorial role on the recent Lupin III manga incarnations, which have been drawn with computer assistance.

The Times newspaper of the United Kingdom interviewed Moyoco Anno about her strong-willed female lead in her Hataraki Man manga. The interview discussed the seinen title's mirrored relationship with the traditional manga that celebrate and cater to Japan's salarymen (male corporate workers). Anno also highlighted the assertive roles that women can take in the modern Japanese workplace which encourages complacency in both genders.

The activeAnime website has interviewed Hinako Takanaga, the author of Little Butterfly and other boys-love manga. Takanaga described her early influences, the themes she explores in what she acknowledged are female "fantasy" storylines, and her current and future projects in Japan. Digital Manga Publishing prints Little Butterfly in English.

Errata: Hataraki Man's audience target corrected. Thanks, Shougo.
