Tokyopop to debut Princess Ai video; Viz to present panels, premieres

The manga publisher Tokyopop has announced that it will debut the "Princess Ai: Broken Leash" music video at the first New York Anime Festival (NYAF) on Saturday, December 8. The music video is based on a franchise created by Tokyopop and rock singer Courtney Love and will feature live-action footage, 2D animation, and computer graphics. Tokyopop has been developing a feature film proposal around the franchise for several years.

The manga and anime distributor Viz Media has announced that it will be participating in several panels at NYAF and the preceding ICv2 Conference on Anime and Manga, as well as sponsoring an on-site manga lounge. Viz Media Senior Vice President of Marketing Liza Coppola, Editorial Director Elizabeth Kawasaki, and Senior Vice President of Strategy and Business Development Daniel Marks will speak at panels during the December 6 conference. The regular Viz Media panel on December 8 will discuss the company's upcoming anime and manga releases, and the company will have a public manga lounge within the convention. Viz Media's sister company Viz Pictures had previously announced that it will premiere the live-action film versions of Love*Com and NANA.
