Japanese Box Office, December 22-23: Bleach Film at #4 (Updated)

Bleach: The DiamondDust Rebellion - Mō Hitotsu no Hyōrinmaru, Noriyuki Abe's second film based on the Bleach television anime series and manga, opened at #4 on Kogyo Tsushinsha's top ten chart for the Japanese box office in the December 22-23 weekend with US$1,466,405 (Box Office Mojo). Eiga de Tōjō! Tamagotchi Doki Doki! Uchū no Maigotchi!? (Appearing on Film! Tamagotchi!: Lost in Space!?), the first feature-length film based on the toys that spawned the virtual pet fad, dropped from #3 to #6 in its second week. It added US$698,931 to its overall total of US$2,072,359. Always Zoku San-chōme no Yūhi (Always: Sunset on Third Street 2), Takashi Yamazaki's second film based on Ryōhei Saigan's Sanchoume no Yuuhi - Yuuyake no Uta post-war slice-of-life manga, dropped from #5 to #7 in its eighth week. With the weekend's US$531,067 box-office take, it has grossed US$35,759,937 since opening. (Remaining on top of the chart for a second week is Francis Lawrence's American film I am Legend starring Will Smith.)
