First of two season boxes of Emma: A Victorian Romance to ship on June 24

Nozomi Entertainment, the anime production arm of Right Stuf, Inc., has posted its first trailer for the Emma: A Victorian Romance anime series. Studio Pierrot produced The Mysterious Cities of Gold and other acclaimed period drama anime before adapting Kaoru Mori's Emma manga series for television. Within the story which is set in London of the 1890s, a maid named Emma overcomes her lowly social standing to fall in love with William Jones, a member of the privileged gentry.

The manga series, which is published in North America by CMX Manga, won an Excellence Prize at the 2005 Japan Media Arts Festival and a place in Young Adult Library Services Association's Top Ten Great Graphic Novels for Teens 2008 list. Tsuneo Kobayashi (The Twelve Kingdoms, Super GALS!, Glass Mask video series) directs the anime adaptation, and Mamiko Ikeda, a scriptwriter on Fruits Basket and Princess Tutu, oversaw the anime scripts. Right Stuf will ship the first season of 12 episodes in a DVD box on June 24. The company will also recognize the first 1,000 people who pre-order from Right Stuf.com by listing their names in the DVDs' "Special Thanks" credits.
