Vancouver Art Gallery Holds Anime-Inspired Exhibition

"Krazy! The Delirious World Of Anime+Comics+Video Games+Art" to open on May 17

The Vancouver Art Gallery in Vancouver, British Columbia will unveil its "Krazy!: The Delirious World of Anime + Comics + Video Games + Art" exhibition on May 17. The exhibition will feature art, installations, and other items from different genres of popular culture, such as original sketches, notes, concept drawings, animation cels, and 3-D models. One of the curators will be Kiyoshi Kusumi, who edits Japan's quarterly Comickers magazine for manga artists. Toshiya Ueno, a professor at Tokyo's Wako University who studies modern Japanese visual culture, will join Kusumi. Pulitzer Prize winner Art Spiegelman (Maus), visionary computer game designer Will Wright (SimCity, The Sims), computer-graphics movie director Tim Johnson (Antz, Over the Hedge), the gallery's senior curator Bruce Grenville, and cartoonist Seth (It's a Good Life, If You Don't Weaken) complete the panel of curators. "Krazy!" will run at the gallery until September 7.
