Ariana Lindquist's photo named best in 2008's Arts & Entertainment category

World Press Photo has selected Ariana Lindquist's picture of an anime cosplayer in Shanghai, China as the top prize winner in the Arts and Entertainment category of its 2008 awards for the world's best news photographs. Lindquist's photograph portrays a girl preparing to go onstage at a competition. The annual awards have been given out since 1955, and professional press photographers from all countries in the world are eligible. The World Press Awards is showcasing all of this year's winning photos on its website.
