Tokyo Museum to Exhibit Layout Art from Ghibli Anime

The Museum Of Contemporary Art in Tokyo will host the "Understanding the Secrets of Takahata/Miyazaki Anime: The Studio Ghibli Layout Exhibit" ("Takahata•Miyazaki Anime no Himitsu ga Wakaru. Studio Ghibli Layout Ten") from July 26 to September 28. The exhibit will showcase about 1,000 layout drawings, many personally drawn by director Hayao Miyazaki himself, from Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, and the other films by Miyazaki and fellow Ghibli co-founder Isao Takahata. Layout drawings are created by a production's key animators to define each scene's composition and camera work. The same museum hosted "The Art of Disney" and an exhibition devoted to Ghibli's master background artist Kazuo Oga. Source: animeanime.jp

Horror Manga Artist Kazuo Umezu's House Unveiled

Kazuo Umezu, the 71-year-old horror manga creator behind Makoto-chan, Orochi: Blood, and Cat Eyed Boy, has largely completed his unorthodox Tokyo house after a half-year delay.
