Gantz's Oku Also Designs Soul Calibur IV Character

Shura to appear alongside Izubuchi's Scheherazade, Yoshizaki's Angol Fear

Not-So-Daily Link of the Day: Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine has announced in this year's 24th issue (released on May 15) that manga creator Hiroya Oku (Gantz, HEN) has designed a female sword-fighter named Shura for the Soul Calibur IV fighting game. She will be a rival to Ivy, the master of the Snake-Sword who was introduced in the first Soul Calibur game. The magazine also includes a pin-up poster of Ivy and Shura, as drawn by Oku. Shura will join the rapier-wielding Scheherazade (pictured below) from fellow manga/anime creator Yutaka Izubuchi (Lodoss, RahXephon), the Lucifer Spear bearer Angol Fear from Mine Yoshizaki (Sgt. Frog, Arcade Gamer Fubuki), and Darth Vader and Yoda from the American Star Wars films.

Dark Horse Comics will publish the first manga volume of Gantz in English next month, and Madman Entertainment has released the anime version in Australia.
