Japan's Roadshow Mag Shows 5 Dragonball Actors on Set (Update 2)

The July issue (released on May 21) of Shueisha's Roadshow film magazine has posted on-set images of five cast members from Twentieth Century Fox's live-action Dragonball movie. The pictured cast members are Justin Chatwin (Goku), Emmy Rossum (Bulma), Chow Yun-Fat (Master Roshi), Joon Park (Yamcha), and Jamie Chung (Chi Chi). Not coincidentally, Shueisha also publishes the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine where Akira Toriyama's original Dragon Ball manga ran from 1984 to 1995. The cover feature for this particular issue is for The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian film.

Update: In comments translated into Japanese and then back into English, Roadshow quoted Chatwin as saying that Goku is like Luke Skywalker reincarnated. Rossum said that she feels a sense of responsibility because there are many fans of the original work, and also that she thinks that Bulma is a wonderful character with very funky, sexy spirit. Chow noted that this is actually the first time he played a character from manga and that Master Roshi is a very funny guy. He enjoyed playing the role since he usually does not play characters that are (presumed to be) 300 years old, and he added that he thinks the director did a good job.

Update 2: Park said that he was familiar with the Dragonball characters since he had many childhood friends who were Japanese. He added that Yamcha is humorous; the character talks tough, but he is actually "soft" and sort of weak. Chung noted that this is her first action film, and as such, the scale of the film overwhelmed here. However, she said that she enjoyed the martial arts training and that she thought the film was a special experience.
