CMX Picks Up Genghis Khan, March on Earth Manga

DC Comics' imprint adds movie-based historical manga, personal drama manga

The Publishers Weekly magazine reports that DC Comics' CMX imprint has picked up two manga titles: Nakaba Higurashi's movie-based Genghis Khan historical piece and Mikase Hayashi's March on Earth personal drama. Genghis Khan is a one-volume adaptation of the live-action Genghis Khan: To the Ends of the Earth and the Sea film that Funimation licensed for North America. This 2007 Japanese-Mongol movie in turn is based on Seiichi Morimura's novel about the Mongol emperor. Higurashi had serialized the manga in the web comic magazine Flex Comix Blood from 2007 to 2008.

March on Earth tells the story of Yuzu, a high school freshman girl who must raise her nephew Shō after losing the rest of her family in car accidents. The manga ran in Hakusensha's LaLa DX magazine from 2003 to 2005.

CMX's panel at San Diego's Comic-Con International is scheduled for this Sunday.
