Funimation's YouTube Channel Schedules Shikabane Hime

posted on by Gage
1st episode of Gainax's latest anime slated for next week on video website

Funimation's official channel on the YouTube video-sharing website is listing the first episode of Shikabane Hime under the channel's schedule for next week. Director Masahiko Murata and the Gainax anime studio have been animating a supernatural television series called Shikabane Hime: Aka, and the series just premiered in Japan on October 2. A listing on Funimation's official channel is not necessarily an indication of an impending license; in the past, Funimation has worked on behalf of Gainax on projects that Funimation has yet to license.

Gainax co-founder Hiroyuki Yamaga had revealed on May 23 that his studio was working on a new anime series for this fall. ANN confirmed two days later that the new project would be an anime adaptation of Yoshiichi Akahito's Shikabane Hime manga. The Shikabane Hime ("Corpse Princess") of the title is Makina Hoshimura, an undead girl who hunts down 108 corpses in order to go to heaven.
