Joost Application for iPhone Launched with Anime

posted on by Egan Loo

The international web video service Joost announced the launch of a video-browsing application for Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch mobile devices. The free application in Apple's App Store enables users to access hours of videos through a Wi-Fi connection.

Joost streams a variety of anime titles from A.D. Vision, FUNimation, Viz Media, Gong, and Sony Pictures. The Japanese Nippon TV Network (NTV) announced it would provide English-subtitled episodes of Ultimate Survivor Kaiji and Buzzer Beater (pictured at right). Joost later confirmed that it would partner with Nippon Television Network, Yoshimoto Kōgyō, and Dentsu to provide Japanese anime and comedy programs to users. Two of Joost's competitors, YouTube and vSNAX, have video-playing applications that include anime for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
