428 Visual Novel's Anime to Be Titled Canaan

posted on by Egan Loo

The official Japanese website for the anime adaptation of Sega and Chunsoft's 428 ~Fuusa Sareta Shibuya de~ visual novel has launched with the announcement of the anime's official title: CANAAN. The visual novel for the Nintendo Wii tells a present-day story about a detective, a young man, a virus researcher, a freelance writer, and a cat mascot character who are brought together by bizarre events with worldwide implications in the Tokyo neighborhood of Shibuya. Sword of the Stranger director Masahiro Ando (not to be confused with the similarly named Sailor Moon animation director Masahiro Ando) is overseeing the animators at P.A. Works (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society, Darker than Black).

There will be a 428 booth at next week's Comic Market convention in Tokyo where the staff will be selling various goods. In particular, the booth will have a DVD with a music video from the upcoming anime and the teaser that was shown at this year's Tokyo Game Show. The included booklet will have Takashi Takeuchi's original character design sketches and Kanami Sekiguchi's finished animation character designs, as well as comments from the staff. The DVD will also bundle a CD with the song "Arousing Soul."
