U.S. animators, Japanese cast to mark Yokohama's 150th anniversary

Wild Boar Media (WBM), the development studio co-founded by former GDH International vice-president Eric Calderon (Afro Samurai), announced on Tuesday that it is working with director Ryuhei Kitamura (Azumi, Versus, Godzilla: Final Wars) on a 50-minute animated film called Baton. The film will run exclusively during the 150th anniversary celebration of the Japanese city of Yokohama from April 28 to September 27. Notorious Films, producer Shunji Iwai, Rockwell Eyes Production, Tsuburaya Productions (Ultraman), and Studio Titmouse are also involved in the project.

According to WBM, the film will be "a combination of traditional rotoscope animation with added 2D and 3D effects." The project was developed in Japan, but the actual animation will be supervised by Mark Brooks and produced at Studio Titmouse in the United States. The producers plan to announce the Japanese cast soon.
