Udon to Publish Silent Möbius: Complete Edition

posted on by Egan Loo
Retranslated edition with 3 books published for 1st time in English

The North American publisher Udon Entertainment has announced that it will publish a newly translated, remastered edition of Kia Asamiya's Silent Möbius paranormal police manga, including three volumes never before published in English. The story deals with Attacked Mystification Police (AMP), an elite all-female unit charged with the protection of Tokyo in the 2020s from Lucifer Hawks and other supernatural creatures.

Udon's Silent Möbius: Complete Edition will feature a new translation, the original right-to-left reading format, and new scans of the original artwork. It will also have three volumes that will be published for the first time in English: the two-volume Silent Möbius Tales and the Silent Möbius Klein prequel. Asamiya (Dark Angel, Nadesico, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, X-Men) launched the manga in Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Comic Comp magazine in 1989, although Tokuma Shoten published this new 15-volume Silent Möbius: Complete Edition in Japan in 2006.

Viz Media released the 12 volumes of the original manga, without Silent Möbius Tales and Silent Möbius Klein, in North America in monthly issues and later in compiled volumes. Viz Media initially released its monthly issues with the originally black-and-white pages colorized, but Udon's version will have color only where the Japanese serialization in Monthly Comic Comp and Monthly Comic Dragon magazines had color. The manga spawned two theatrical anime films and a 26-episode television anime series. The defunct Streamline Pictures released the first movie, while Bandai Entertainment released both movies and the television series.
