Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone gets screenings in Dallas, Hawaii in April

The North American distributor Funimation Films has announced that the Seventh Annual National Cherry Blossom Festival will screen the Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone film in Washingon, D.C. on March 28. Hideaki Anno and Khara's first film in a four-part theatrical remake of Gainax's Neon Genesis Evangelion science-fiction television series will play at the Smithsonian's Freer Gallery. Vexille, Fumihiko Sori's paramilitary drama about a future Japan in techno-political isolation, will play on that same Saturday.

Funimation Films also noted that Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone will have two 35-mm film screenings at the previously announced AFI Dallas International Film Festival in Texas. It will first play for free on March 29 at Victory Plaza, and again on April 2 at Landmark's Magnolia 5.

The Anime Expo 2008 convention screened the Evangelion 1.0 film last July, and Funimation announced on New Year's Eve that it will release the film in North America this year. The second film in the ongoing remake project, Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, will open in Japan on June 27.
