Hatsune Miku Song "Sakura no Ame" Gets Live-Action Film

"Sakura no Ame" ("Rain of Cherry Blossom"), the chart-ranking graduation song sung by the virtual idol singer Hatsune Miku, is being made into a live-action film by a group of students who call themselves the Tetra Film Studio. This song, which was produced by the three-man acoustic band absorb, reached #32 on Oricon's top-selling chart in Japan last December. It became a popular song for graduation ceremonies in middle and high schools last month. Tetra director Hiromi Tanaka began filming on the movie on March 16 with plans to finish principal photography in the middle of April.
The coming-of-age love story will revolve around six boys that are called "otaku" behind their backs by their classmates. The boys try to become cool before graduation, but face trouble along the way.
Hatsune has inspired an approved dōjin game, manga, and several other virtual singers.
