Actor Rikiya Koyama reveals plans while blogging about current anime series

Rikiya Koyama, the voice actor of the Mamoru Takamura character in the Hajime no Ippo boxing anime franchise, has revealed in his blog on Friday that a sequel to the ongoing Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger television series is being planned. Koyama was posting about the end of dialogue recording for the series, since the cast just finished work on the 26th and final episode. (The final episode, "New Challenger," will air in Japan on June 30.) At the end of his Friday blog entry, he wrote, "Of course, a sequel is also being planned!!"

The current Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger series has been running since January 6. Like the first Hajime no Ippo television anime series (2000-2002) and the other spinoffs, it adapts George Morikawa's long-running manga. Geneon Entertainment (USA) released the first television series on DVD in North America.
