Ponyo's U.S. Trailer Now Streaming by Apple (Updated)

Apple's website has begun streaming the 92-second American trailer for Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's Ponyo film in three high-definition resolutions on Wednesday night. The movie will open in North American theaters on August 14.
Frank Marshall, one of the producers for the North American release, has revealed on his personal Twitter account that the Ponyo trailer will debut in theaters "this weekend on My Sister's Keeper." Nick Cassavetes is directing that film version of Jodi Picoult's My Sister's Keeper novel with Cameron Diaz, Abigail Breslin, and Alec Baldwin in the cast. Marshall had previously said that the Ponyo trailer would have premiered during the July 4th weekend.
Marshall told the Sci Fi Wire website this month that Ponyo's dubbed version was "tweaked" with the blessing and daily consultation of "Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki-san and [producer Toshio] Suzuki-san." According to Marshall, "It's not a direct translation. We have tweaked the story so it is an understandable story for our audience. Melissa Matheson, who wrote E.T., came in and helped us shape the story." He also emphasized that the subtitled version will be available on DVD.
The story follows an ordinary boy named Sosuke (Frankie Jonas in the English dub) and his friendship with Ponyo (Noah Cyrus), a goldfish who wishes to be human. The other English-language castmembers include Cate Blanchett, Matt Damon, Tina Fey, Cloris Leachman, Liam Neeson, Lily Tomlin, and Betty White.
