Onnanoko Monogatari Manga Gets Mobile Flash Anime

To promote the live-action film adaptation of Rieko Saibara's loosely autobiographical Onnanoko Monogatari manga, the BeeTV mobile phone television service will run a Flash-animated series based on the manga in Japan. 35-year-old actress Eri Fukatsu (Odoru Daisōsasen) stars in the film as Natsumi Takahara, an unsuccessful manga artist who starts drinking during the day and dozing on the sofa. Her editor harshly asks her if she has any friends, and that comment triggers both her memories of old friends in the countryside and a desire to change her life.
The 10 animated episodes will launch on August 15 and update every Tuesday and Friday. Eri Kitamura (Blood+, Seto no Hanayome), Asami Imai (Strait Jacket), Manabi Mizuno (Mahoromatic - Automatic Maiden, This Ugly Yet Beautiful World), and Tomoyuki Terai are voicing the animated version. In addition to the Flash anime, Keiko Toda and Fukatsu will read aloud and narrate ten "Yomu Onnanoko Monogatari" shorts. Starting on August 23, these shorts will use footage and still images from the film to cover the film's story highlights. The film itself will open on August 29. A trailer has been streaming online since last month.
