Northridge Borders store to host Komaneko animator on October 29

The North American publisher Tokyopop has announced that Tsuneo Goda, the creator of the Domo stop-motion anime character, will appear at the Northridge Borders store in Southern California on October 29 at 7:00 p.m. Goda and his production studio dwarf inc. created Domo in 1998 as the mascot of the Japanese public broadcaster NHK, and have since animated a string of stop-motion animated shorts for both Japan and North America.

America's 7-Eleven chain of convenience stores has posted two of the three newly animated "webisodes" featuring Domo on the slurpee.com website as part of a month-long promotion of Domo. Tokyopop is taking part in 7-Eleven and Big Tent Entertainment's October promotion with a miniature version of its Domo graphic novel.

New shorts were previously created for the Domo Halloween campaign in the Target chain of department stores last year. In addition to creating Domo, Goda conceived of other characters such as Komaneko, the feline star of theatrical shorts and features. Komaneko's second stop-motion anime feature film, Komaneko no Christmas ~Maigo ni Natta Present~ (A Komaneko Christmas: The Lost Present), will open in Tokyo on November 7.
