Jakks, Dentsu Develop Japanese-Animated Monsuno for TV

2011 52-episode boys' adventure story about "re-awakened Monster DNA"

The Japanese advertising company Dentsu and Jakks Pacific, the third largest American toy company, have announced that they are producing a 52-episode Japanese-animated television series and toy line called Monsuno for North America, Europe, and Asia next year. The boys' action story centers around "re-awakened Monster DNA that finds its way into the unsuspecting hands of adventure-seeking boys."

For the past year, Jakks and Dentsu have been developing the property with DCI-LA, the Los Angeles-based subsidiary that Dentsu established in 2008. Former Bakugan Battle Brawlers producer Mitsuharu Inoue will serve as creative director. Inoue was involved in Chub City, another toy brand with an animated television series planned by Dentsu, DCI, and Jada Toys.

Jakks Pacific had previously licensed the rights to make toys for Dragon Ball, Pokémon, Yū Yū Hakusho, and other animation properties. However, Monsuno will be the first entertainment property that Jakks Pacific owns and is directly co-producing.
