posted on by Egan Loo
5th Sgt. Frog film, 2nd Black Butler musical, 2nd Bloody Monday drama this year

The official website for the Sgt. Frog (Keroro Gunsō) science-fiction comedy anime has begun streaming a 15-second trailer for the Chō Gekijō-ban Keroro Gunsō Tanjō! Kyūkyoku Keroro Kiseki no Jikūjima de Arimasu!! film on Monday. This fifth film inspired by Mine Yoshizaki's manga about a frog-like alien will open on February 27. The film's story revolves around a curious stone figurine, shaped like Sgt. Frog, that Sgt. Frog's friend Fuyuki comes across. Uncovering the secrets of the figurine leads the two and their allies on an adventure at the massive stone statues of Easter Island. Tokyopop published the manga, while Funimation is releasing the television anime series.

The second stage musical based on Yana Toboso's Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji) manga has been green-lit, and the official website posted videos of the two main cast members on Monday. Yūya Matsushita will reprise his role of the impeccably talented butler Sebastian Michaelis, while Yukito Nishii will play Sebastian's 12-year-old master, Ciel Phantomhive. Musical Kuroshitsuji: The Most Beautiful DEATH in The World - Sen no Tamashii to Ochita Shinigami will open in Japan in May. Yen Press is publishing the first manga volume this month.

A YouTube channel has launched for the live-action television drama adaptation of Ryō Ryūmon and Kōji Megumi's Bloody Monday suspense manga. The high-definition channel is streaming a 62-second "WEB Navi" video and a 16-second promotional video. Bloody Monday Season 2 will launch on January 23 with a two-hour special. 19-year-old Haruma Miura (3rd Gokusen series, Akihabara @ DEEP) will reprise his role of Fujimaru Takagi, a high school student and genius white-hat hacker who tries to clear his father's name by tracking down the "Bloody Monday" conspiracy. Whereas the first series dealt with a deadly Russian weapons-grade virus, the new season is set two years later when an aircraft bearing a new kind of nuclear weapon threatens Tokyo.
