AnimEigo's Oh My Goddess Video Series License Expires

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

The North American licensing company AnimEigo announced Tuesday on its website that it will lose its license to the 1993 Oh My Goddess! original video anime series at the end of this month. To clear out its inventory, AnimEigo has reduced the price on the anime. Currently, it is selling a collector's edition of the 5-episode series for US$14.99, and is selling the two regular-edition DVDs for US$5.99 each. The DVDs contain both English and Japanese language tracks. AnimEigo originally released the DVDs in 2001.

Dark Horse Comics is currently releasing Kosuke Fujishima's manga in the US. Funimation currently has internet streaming rights for both seasons of the Ah! My Goddess TV series, and holds the DVD license for the second season of the series after the dissolution of ADV Films. Media Blasters has the DVD rights to the first season of the television series. Geneon Entertainment held the license to The Adventures of Mini-Goddess television series and Ah! My Goddess: The Movie, but no new company has of yet picked up these licenses.
