Minnesota's Anime Detour to Host Shinichi Watanabe

The Anime Detour convention is hosting director and cameo voice actor Shinichi Watanabe during the April 23-25 weekend in Bloomington, Minnesota. Watanabe, or "Nabeshin," is best known for directing Excel Saga, Puni Puni Poemy, The Wallflower, Tenchi Muyo GXP, Nerima Daikon Brothers, and other anime series. He also voiced an exaggerated version of himself in these same anime works, as well as other titles in which he made contributions such as Hayate the Combat Butler. Like the real Nabeshin, the fictional Nabeshin sports a huge afro and his trademark red blazer.
