Ponyo Ranks #9 BD, #10 Overall in 2nd Week in U.S.

During its second week of sales, Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's Ponyo film ranked #9 in Blu-ray Disc sales and #10 in overall sales in the United States in the week ending on March 14. The film fell off the top 10 for DVD sales and in video rental sales for the week. 22% of the total unit sales of Ponyo were Blu-ray. During its first week of sales, the film ranked #3 in Blu-Ray Disc sales and #4 in DVD sales. It ranked #3 in overall sales and #19 in video rentals for the week.

Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea was released on DVD in Japan on July 3. During its first week, it ranked #1 on Japan's animation DVD rankings, selling more than 500,000 copies. It was also the seventh Miyazaki film to claim the #1 spot in the weekly DVD sales charts in its first week. The Blu-ray Disc ranked #1 during its first week of sales in December, with the Blu-Ray Special Keepsake Edition ranking at #2 during the same week.
