Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail 001 Promo Streamed

posted on by Egan Loo
"TV Edit" airs in Japan this weekend; episode to run at Anime Expo on Thursday

The official website of the Black Lagoon anime franchise has begun streaming a 40-second promotional movie for the first volume of the Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail original video anime series on Saturday. (In the linked page, select the "OVA 001 Movie START!!" button in the top righthand corner.) The website also unveiled the jacket cover illustrations for the first edition and the regular edition of this Blu-ray Disc/DVD volume.

Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail is the third anime "season" after the first two aired on Japanese television. Osaka's MBS station will be the first of eight stations to air the "TV Edit" versions of the first Roberta's Blood Trail episode after midnight between Saturday night and Monday night (effectively, early Sunday morning and early Tuesday morning). Anime Expo 2010 will then host manga creator Rei Hiroe and a screening of the first episode on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in Los Angeles. The new anime season is slated to be five episodes long, with the first episode shipping on home video on July 17 in Japan. It marks the return of former guerrilla assassin Roberta to the fictional criminal's city of Roanapur, Thailand.

Viz Media has slated the ninth manga volume for release in North America in July. Geneon Entertainment released part of the Black Lagoon anime in North America, but Funimation has since agreed to take over distribution of the first two television anime series. Funimation has reissued the first anime television series and shipped the entire Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage series on DVD.
