Media Blasters Launches Anime DVD/Blu-ray Kiosks

posted on by Gia Manry
Kiosks includes titles from all U.S. licensees; 1st already open in NYC

The North American anime company Media Blasters has announced on Thursday that it is launching a series of home video rental kiosks branded with its Rareflix online store logo and featuring primarily anime DVDs and Blu-ray Disc releases. Users can rent television series and films, in their original packaging, for US$1 to US$2. If the users want to keep their rentals instead of returning it, they can then purchase the rented discs outright on Media Blasters' website.

According to the announcement, the kiosks feature titles "from all U.S. anime companies," and the kiosks' official website lists titles from Bandai Entertainment, Funimation, Viz Media, Sentai Filmworks, Disney, and Sony Pictures. Among the titles listed are several films by Studio Ghibli and director Hayao Miyazaki, as well as several by the late director Satoshi Kon.

The first of these kiosks is already open in New York City at the Image Anime store at 242 West 30th Street. The company intends to roll out another 100 kiosks throughout the United States over the next 18 months.

What follows is a full list of the titles shown as available on the kiosk's official website:
