Japanese Box Office, October 9-10

Umizaru: The Last Message, the third live-action film based on Shuho Sato's manga about the Japanese Coast Guard, dropped to #2 on Kogyo Tsushinsha's box chart to make way for the American live-action film Knight & Day. However, it remained at #1 on Box Office Mojo's chart for a fourth weekend by earning the equivalent of US$6,536,851 on 467 screens. It now has a total of US$69,386,846.

The Lady Shogun and Her Men, the live-action film adaptation of Fumi Yoshinaga's Ōoku: The Inner Chambers manga, dropped from #2 to #3 in its second weekend. It made US$2,750,203 on 312 screens for a gross-to-date of US$12,662,877.

The live-action film adaptation of Karuho Shiina's Kimi ni Todoke romantic comedy manga dropped from #4 to #5 on Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart, but to #6 on Box Office Mojo's chart. In its third weekend, it added US$1,703,772 on 285 screens to its total of US$10,754,898.

Mobile Suit Gundam 00 the Movie: A Wakening of the Trailblazer, the sequel to the two Mobile Suit Gundam 00 television series, dropped from #7 to #8 with US$458,666 on 88 screens. After its fourth weekend, it now has a total of US$7,798,465.

The live-action film adaptation of Harold Sakuishi's Beck manga fell from #8 to #10. In its sixth weekend, it earned US$346,996 more on 311 screens for a gross-to-date of US$20,138,388.

Hiromasa Yonebayashi and Studio Ghibli's The Borrowers (Karigurashi no Arrietty) anime film fell from #11 to #12 during its 13th weekend. The movie earned US$291,862 on 353 screens to add its total of US$109,346,630.
