Votoms Videos, New Shinbo/Shaft Anime Image Posted

posted on by Egan Loo
New Votoms every month until January; Hidamari Sketch team returns plus Nitro+ writer Urobuchi

The official website for the Votoms anime franchise has begun streaming three two-minute promotional videos for the three upcoming anime projects — Armored Trooper Votoms Case;Irvine, Votoms Finder, and Sōkō Kihei Votoms: Koei Futatabi — on Tuesday. (In the linked page, select the orange "PV" icons under each title.) There is also a teaser trailer for the upcoming theatrical Votoms Festival screenings of these projects, although it is inactive as of press time.

Shishō Igarashi's Armored Trooper Votoms Case;Irvine (November 6) will follow the story of Irvine (Irvin) Lester, a repairer of the tank-like robotic Armored Trooper (AT) mecha in the VOTOMS story world. Atsushi Shigeta's Votoms Finder (December 4) will center around Aki Tesuno, a guard for scrap salvagers and a pilot of a robotic mecha called an At or Altro (as opposed to VOTOMS' trademark Armored Trooper mecha). Ryousuke Takahashi and other original VOTOMS staffers return for Sōkō Kihei Votoms: Koei Futatabi (January 8, 2011), which also features a reunion of the original characters.

The Animate character goods store in Tokyo's Akihabara otaku shopping district began displaying a poster about the recently revealed new project from director Akiyuki Shinbo and the anime studio Shaft. While the poster displayed the same staff credits that were first shown in a commercial last week, it also adds a silhouette resembling a girl.

Shinbo, the director of Bakemonogatari, Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei, Hidamari Sketch, Arakawa Under the Bridge, is working with Nitroplus writer Gen Urobuchi (Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~, Blassreiter, Fate/Zero & Black Lagoon novels). Ume Aoki (Hidamari Sketch) is drawing the original characters designs for this Aniplex project. Shinbo and SHAFT are also collaborating on the second television anime season of Maria Holic.
