posted on by Gia Manry
1st season's stream date TBA; 2nd season to start simultaneous release in February

The media-distribution website Crunchyroll has issued a press release announcing that it will stream Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas - Meiō Shinwa, an original video anime series based on Masami Kurumada and Shiori Teshirogi's manga of the same name. The first season of the series was released between June 2009 and April 2010, and the second season was green-lit this past March.

Dates for the release of the first 13-episode season of the series are to be announced later. The first release of the second season will ship in Japan on February 23, and the first two episodes are scheduled to be released on Crunchyroll on the same date as their DVD release in Japan. Crunchyroll lists the series as one of its winter simulcasts. The series will also only be available to users in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.

Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas - Meiō Shinwa serves as a prequel to the original Saint Seiya series, taking place 250 years prior to the events of the original series. The story revolves around the Pegasus Saint Tenma and his friend Alone, who eventually develops into Tenma's greatest enemy: Hades.
