Japanese Box Office, January 1-2

Yamato live-action climbs to #3; Inazuma Eleven, Kamen Rider, Bleach stay on charts

The live-action adaptation of 70s anime franchise Space Battleship Yamato rose from #4 to #3 on both Box Office Mojo's and Kogyo Tsuhinsha's box office charts. On its fifth week in theaters, the film made US$2,448,013 on 440 screens over the weekend, bringing its total gross to US$38,771,677.

Soccer-based anime film Inazuma Eleven: Saikyō Gundan Ogre Shūrai dropped from #2 to #5 on its second week on Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart. On Box Office Mojo's chart, it was not listed the weekend before, but it appeared on the January 1-2 char at #5 by earning US$1,266,240. It now has a gross-to-date of 1US$2,822,156.

Ryuta Tasaki's Kamen Rider x Kamen Rider: OOO & W feat. Skull: Movie Taisen Core remained #6 in its third weekend on Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart. According to Box Office Mojo, it dropped from #5 to #7 and earned the equivalent of US$1,041,105 on 275 screens to add to its total of US$12,002,001.

The Ultraman Zero the Movie Chō Kessen! Belial Ginga Teikoku debuted at #13 on Box Office Mojo's chart, even though it is in its second weekend in theaters. It garnered US$361,563 on 170 screens for a total of US$2,651,006.

Bleach: Jigoku-hen, the fourth film based on Tite Kubo 's Bleach supernatural manga, fell from #13 to #15 in its fifth week. It brought in US$226,020 on 233 screens for a gross-to-date of US$6,488,991.

The #1 film was the live-action police movie Aibō: Gekijō-ban II for a second weekend.
