Anime Roadshow in the UK and Ireland

Redline, Laputa: Castle in the Sky and The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya in a new UK anime travelling film festival

Redline, Laputa - Castle in the Sky, and The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya are among the films in an anime roadshow touring the UK and Ireland from March. The roadshow will come to Dublin, Edinburgh, Dumfries, Newcastle, Birmingham, Leeds and Bexley, reaching London's Barbican in July.

The films on show include Mamoru Hosoda's acclaimed fantasy-drama Summer Wars, the racing spectacular Redline, the dark science-fiction King of Thorn, the Miyazaki classic Laputa - Castle in the Sky, and more. There are two movies based on popular anime series, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya and Eureka 7 – Good Night, Sleep Tight, Young Lovers. All the films are due to come to British DVD (Laputa is already available).

The venues are as follows:

Edinburgh: Filmhouse (March 26th-27th)
Birmingham: Appearing at The Electric Cinema as part of Flatpack Film Festival (March 26th)
Leeds: Appearing at The HYDE Park Cinema as part of Leeds Young People's Film Festival (April 2nd)
Bexley: Appearing as part of BAM 2011
Dublin: Appearing at Cineworld as a part of Cinemagic (May 13th-15th)
Dumfries: Robert Burns Centre Film Theatre (June)
Newcastle: Tyneside Cinema (Date TBC)
London: The Barbican (July)

According to the press release, We Love Anime will meet “the huge demand for theatrical screenings across the UK and Ireland.” The roadshow is a collaboration between Manga Entertainment, its distribution partner Kazé UK, and Optimum Releasing, which distributes Ghibli's films. The sponsors are Manga Entertainment and the fashion chain UNIQLO, which is releasing a range of anime-themed T-shirts.

Tickets will be on sale via the participating venue's websites in due course and schedule updates will be posted on the We Love Anime site.
